Important information

A Materials Starter kit is essential for each child participating in the class. If this is your child's first term with us, please ensure you purchase one along with the term fees. Kits will be compiled by the teacher and handed to children at their first class. Parent's will be required to complete our child saftey and carer contact details form at the first class. Children will need to complete the Child Code of Conduct form in conjunction with their carer. Please allow time prior to the first class to complete both. They could take 10 -15 minutes to complete. Please ensure that children have afternoon tea prior to attending class. We have a no food in class policy to ensure the safety of children with allergies.

Ticket Options

You must be an annual member to participate in ongoing term classes at the Neighbourhood Centre.
Membership is optional for workshops. Please sign up for membership here if you would like to become a member.
Children Creative

Wednesdays 4pm-5pm during term time

Develop your child’s individual creativity and self-expression in our weekly mixed media class that covers watercolour and acrylic painting, drawing skills, pastels, graphite and markers.

Tutor Naomi is both an accomplished artist and art teacher who has extensive experience working with children.

Topics Covered in Term 3 include:    Shading (graphite), Crosshatch (pen/pencil/marker), Landscape (Watercolour – oil pastel), Picasso (Acrylic paint ), Portraits (collage), Observational (watercolor), Perspective (pencil/pen – watercolour), Cartoon (Acrylic), Abstract – texture/layering (Oil pastel) and Line drawing (pen/marker – oil pastel).

Topics Covered in Term 4 include:  doing a blend of mixed media, drawing and painting. Focusing on portraits, dioramas and sculpture (paper mache).
Portraits: Picasso, line, and collage
Diorama – My home: focusing on different elements over a couple of weeks
Sculpture: paper mache and paint
Students will need an apron from week 3 onwards.
