We had to postpone this event in 2020 because of Covid 19, but Gabriel has found time to join us at the Neighbourhood Centre in 2021 as part of our local Conversation series.
Gabriel trained as a chef in several of the top restaurants in France, arriving in Australia in 1977 with his Australian wife, Angie. Soon after, Gabriel began to freelance as a chef consultant, cooking demonstrator, writer and broadcaster.
He is one of Australia’s best-selling cookery authors. His 24 cookbooks have sold well over one million copies.
Gabriel has presented cooking shows on television for the last 40 years. His credits include ‘The Good Food Show’ (ABC), ‘What’s Cooking?’ (Nine Network) and his 12-year stint with Bert Newton on ‘Good Morning Australia’ (Channel 10). For fifteen years Gabriel produced and fronted the popular cooking segment, ‘Taste Le Tour with Gabriel Gaté’ featuring the best food, wines and gastronomy of France, during the Tour de France.
Gabriel is a happy resident of Surrey Hills. Have you spotted him out walking? He will join us at the Centre to discuss his experiences and thoughts on food, travel, his career, moving to Australia and so much more. This will be a Parkinson style interview facilitated by Shima Ibuki and Peter Hall and Gabriel is looking forward to Q&A time where you get to ask your questions.
We are very grateful to City of Boroondara for supporting this Local Conversation series.
