This tour includes an overview of the history of the Box Hill Cemetery and a number of the interesting structures within it. The starting point is the site of the first burial, that of a 3-week old baby girl. Then, as this tour commemorates Victoria Day, it will concentrate on acknowledging the roles of pioneers of the Surrey Hills, Box Hill, Doncaster and Mitcham areas. Victoria Day used to be a public holiday in Victoria prior to WW1. It acknowledges the date on which Victoria separated from NSW.
The tour will be led by Sue Barnett and John Barnao (of Box Hill Historical Society).
