Velda joined the Victorian Artists’ Society in the 1970s and took watercolour lessons from Ken McDonald. She then undertook a Diploma of Art at Swinburne University, and entered into the world of advertising for a few years, after which she concentrated on raising her family until finding the time to continue her art career in the 90s. She has contributed work to many exhibitions at the Australian Guild of Realist Artists (AGRA) in Camberwell and an exhibition at Bridges in Hurstbridge.
Velda has won many awards and her work is in collections in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and England. She is also a member of the Australasian Wildlife Artists’ Society and the Victorian Watercolour Society. She currently teaches watercolour and acrylic painting, and drawing at the Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre.
