Volunteer Opportunities at Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre
Become a volunteer of our dedicated team to make a meaningful impact and connect with others. Experience the satisfaction of learning and sharing new skills, fostering a strong community bond, and contributing positively to the Surrey Hills neighbourhood.
The Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre delivers a community paper called the Surrey Hills Neighbourhood News. It is issued and delivered six times a year to all letterboxes in the postcode 3127. We are always on the lookout for new deliverers and would be very grateful if you could spare a couple of hours every second month or so. To find out more, or express your interest, please email reception@surreyhillsnc.org.au.
Volunteer Leaders
Many of our regular activities such as Scrabble, Mahjong, bike riding, walking groups are run by volunteers. Volunteers help set up activities and keep attendance records.
Office Volunteers
Our Office Team welcome assistance from volunteers who can help by answering phone calls, completing data entry, setting up rooms for classes and doing a range of other tasks that keep the Centre operating.
Board
The Board meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the Maitland Room of the Cottage at 1 Bedford Avenue, Surrey Hills from February to December during school term. Meetings are open to all members of the Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre and enquiries around membership of the Board are always welcome.
Surrey Hills Music Festival
The Neighbourhood Centre organises this annual community event which is run by a Director who is assisted by a voluntary Steering Committee. There are also many opportunities for volunteers to assist with the Festival over the weekend it runs.
Asylum Seekers Resource Centre Food Bank
The Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre is a drop off point for the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre (ASRC). We take donations of food and drive them to the ASRC in Footscray. We would love to hear from you if you would like to help us deliver the food once a month.
